ND: YAG LASER TATTOO REMOVAL MELBOURNE

Safe. Targeted. Powerful.

At Celluderm Skin Aesthetics, we offer advanced laser tattoo removal using the Eluxx ND:YAG Laser system, a highly effective device designed to safely and efficiently fade unwanted tattoos with minimal discomfort and downtime. The Eluxx laser operates with dual wavelengths — 1064nm and 532nm — allowing us to treat a wide range of tattoo colours and ink depths across various skin types. This treatment is suitable for removing both body tattoos and cosmetic tattoos, including eyebrow tattoos, lip liner, and small facial tattoos, with precision and care.

HOW DOES TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

The Q-switched ND:YAG laser delivers ultra-short, high-intensity pulses of light at specific wavelengths — 1064nm and 532nm — that are selectively absorbed by tattoo ink. When the laser energy is applied to the skin, it targets the ink pigment without harming surrounding tissue. The rapid energy causes the ink particles to heat up and shatter into tiny fragments, which are then gradually cleared away by the body’s lymphatic system over time.

The ND:YAG laser emits short, powerful pulses of light that break down tattoo ink particles in the skin. These fragmented particles are then naturally cleared away by your body’s immune system over time.

What colours can be treated with the Eluxx ND:YAG Laser?

  • 1064nm wavelength targets dark pigments like black, dark blue, and green.
  • 532nm wavelength is effective for red, orange, yellow, and pink inks.
This dual wavelength allows us to safely treat a wide range of tattoo colours.

BENIFITS OF ND:YAG LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

  • Treats both body tattoos and cosmetic tattoos (e.g., brows, lips)
  • Suitable for a wide range of ink colours and skin types
  • Minimal risk of scarring when performed correctly
  • Gradual and safe fading with each session
  • Suitable for professional and amateur tattoos
  • Minimal downtime with a fast, targeted approach

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH A TATTOO REMOVAL TREATMENT?

  • Most tattoos require a series of sessions (typically 6–10), spaced 6–8 weeks apart for optimal fading.
  • Sessions are quick, and while there is some discomfort, it is usually well-tolerated — often described as a snapping or heat sensation.
  • After each session, the treated area may appear red, swollen, or form light scabbing, which resolves as the skin heals.

WHO IS TATTOO REMOVAL SUITABLE FOR?

Laser tattoo removal is suitable for most healthy adults with unwanted tattoos — whether on the body or face. During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo’s size, colour, location, and depth to determine the most effective treatment plan. A patch test may be performed to ensure suitability and minimise risks, especially for darker skin types.

Yes. The Q-Switch ND:YAG laser can safely treat cosmetic tattoos, including micro-bladed or powdered eyebrows, lip liner, and other small facial tattoos. A patch test may be required to assess pigment reaction.

Most tattoos require 6 to 10 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. The exact number depends on:

  • Tattoo colour and depth
  • Ink density and type (amateur vs. professional)
  • Skin type and body area

A consultation is required to discusses expected outcomes personalised to each individual.

There is some discomfort, often compared to the snap of a rubber band or heat sensation. Numbing cream can be applied before hand to increase comfort.

Each appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes, but the actual laser time is often much shorter—just seconds for small tattoos and only a few minutes for larger ones. The total number of sessions needed depends on various factors, including the tattoo’s age, ink density, placement on the body, and your overall health and immune response.
Typically, older or densely pigmented black tattoos may require between 5 to 9 sessions spaced over 12 months for full removal. However, if you’re fading a tattoo for a cover-up, significantly fewer treatments are usually needed. Your dermal therapist can guide you on how much fading is required before beginning a new design.

You may experience redness, swelling, or mild blistering that resolves in a few days. Avoid sun exposure, picking scabs, and applying active skincare to the area during healing.

Most skin types can be safely treated with ND:YAG lasers, but those with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) may require a more cautious approach due to the risk of pigment changes. A consultation and patch test are always recommended.

Side effects are rare but may include:

  • Temporary redness, swelling, or blistering
  • Scabbing or flaking
  • Hypo- or hyperpigmentation (usually temporary)
  • Slight risk of scarring if aftercare is not followed
  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Avoid picking, scratching, or exposing the area to sun
  • Apply a gentle healing ointment as directed
  • Use SPF daily on exposed areas
  • Avoid hot showers, pools, or active skincare for 48 hours post-treatment

Our minimum charge per treatment is $100 (for something 10c size or smaller) and then we quote based on size and density of your tattoo. For a free no obligation quote please contact us.
